AN IDEAL WEDDING DAY TIMELINE
Every wedding is unique and so it is difficult to pinpoint an exact wedding photography timeline template. However, there are ideal time frames you should consider when planning your day. Some of these times may seem long on paper but keep in mind that 1) the day will fly by, 2) most weddings run slightly behind schedule, and 3) we’ll make these photo sessions fun, so it won’t seem very long at all!
RINGS, DRESS, SHOES & OTHER DETAILS
Ideal Time Allotment: 30 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: During Bridal Preparations
Ideal Location: Bridal Suite
We start the day off by photographing all of your details. 30 minutes allows us enough time to carefully document your wedding dress, wedding shoes, jewellery, flowers, the rings and anything else that is special or important to you.

PREPARATION
Ideal Time Allotment: 30 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: After hair and makeup is complete
Ideal Location: Bridal Suite
Having 30 minutes of photography time following hair and makeup is ideal for our style. During this time we are doing some fun robe shots, hair and makeup portraits, exchanging gifts or letters, and getting dressed. Keep in mind that these are some of the most emotional and fun times of the day, so you don’t want to cut it short!
Our lead shooter will be with the bride while the second shooter will be with the groom. While it doesn’t take guys an hour to get dressed, there are still tons of great moments to capture during this time between the groom and his family and friends.

INDIVIDUAL PORTRAITS
Ideal Time Allotment: 15 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: After Prep time
Ideal Location: Bridal Suite, Hotel Suite, Venue Lobby, or Venue Garden
Right after prep is the best time for individual bride and groom portraits. Hair and makeup are still fresh, dresses and suits are still looking sharp and the available beautiful window light creates a unique look that can't be duplicated in any other environment throughout the rest of the day.

FIRST LOOK
Ideal Time Allotment: 15 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: Late Morning or Early Afternoon
Ideal Location: At your venue or a location of special meaning to you both
During this time, the bride and groom enjoy seeing each other for the first time on the wedding day. This could take anywhere between 5 minutes and 15 minutes to capture.

CREATIVE SESSION
Ideal Time Allotment: 60 minutes (plus travel time if required)
Ideal Time of the Day: After the first look or after the ceremony
Ideal Location: Venue Garden or Off-site Location
Your creative portrait session will require at least an hour. During this time, we get a variety of shots in a variety of poses. We start off with the basic, classic photos focused on great expressions and lighting. Then we move into a set of fun and creative shots. Finally, we know how much your bridal party means to you, so we are sure to get pictures of the whole group as well as you with each one of your bridesmaids or groomsmen individually.

FAMILY FORMALS
Ideal Time Allotment: 30 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: After the ceremony
Ideal Location: Ceremony or Venue site
Family Formals normally take around 30 minutes depending on the size of your family and the number of guests. Plan on 2 minutes per group on average. For example, if you have 15 groups, schedule in a 30 minute time slot. Some couples decide to have a picture with every guest while others decide that they only want pictures with immediate family to save time. We recommend something in between.
We also recommend being very organised, with a list of groups and helpers from each side of the family to help round people up.

GOLDEN HOUR PORTRAITS
Ideal Time Allotment: 20 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: 30 minutes before sunset
Ideal Location: Reception venue gardens or nearby location
Golden hour is the best time of day in terms of light for capturing stunning romantic portraits. This couple session will be around 20 minutes and should take place ideally 30 minutes before sunset. This time of day also allows us to capture awesome scenic shots with colourful skies. If you booked your venue because of the spectacular view of the ocean or the gorgeous vines in the winery then we highly recommend allowing the time in the evening for these magical golden hour shots.

NIGHT TIME SNEAK OUT
Ideal Time Allotment: 5 minutes
Ideal Time of the Day: Dusk to Night Time
Ideal Location: Areas with interesting lights, trees, fountains, or buildings
During the reception, please plan on sneaking out for a couple of night shots. We only need 5-10 minutes, as we understand the importance of being a good host. However, this time is important if you appreciate the night photography that we deliver. The ideal time for this is during the open floor dancing after you’ve danced a few songs and would like a break.
